Feature: Chat

The question you'd otherwise open a general AI tool to ask.

Between clients, most questions get answered by Googling, asking a colleague, or opening a general AI chat tool. Chat is the same kind of assistant, except it already knows the client you're asking about, and nothing typed into it leaves a system built to hold clinical information.

What it does

Built around how the work actually happens.

Ask in plain language

No special syntax or prompt structure required. Ask the way you'd ask a colleague.

Uses your caseload as context

Bring in a client's history with @ (see Client context) and the assistant answers with that history in mind, not as a generic query.

Documents and custom modes live here too

Upload a scanned form or a referral letter and use it in the conversation (see Documents below), or use a saved configuration for a task you repeat often (see Custom modes).

Built to hold what you type

Unlike a general AI chat tool, this runs on infrastructure meant to hold clinical information, with client details protected before anything reaches a model (see PHI Guard).

Why it matters

The real alternative to this isn't another scribe tool. It's the AI chat tool you already have open.

Most clinicians already ask AI tools questions between clients. The risk isn't that the answers are bad, it's that a general AI tool was never built to hold what gets typed into it. Chat exists so that question doesn't have to be a trade-off.

Inside Chat: Documents

Upload a form, a scan, or a referral letter, and use it as context.

A lab result, an intake form, a referral letter, or a page from an old paper chart: upload it as a PDF or a photo and the assistant reads it and can answer questions using it, the same way it does with a typed message. Until there's a native connection to your EHR, this is how outside records get into the conversation.

Inside Chat: Custom modes

A saved setup for the task you repeat every week.

A treatment plan draft, a session summary written for a caregiver, a biopsychosocial assessment: save the setup once as a mode, and it's a named tool from then on instead of a blank text box you have to explain the task to every time.
